Colour in Mixed Media

This was done for a friend. Although, we’ve since grown apart I’d like to think that he still enjoys it. The scan doesn’t really do it any justice since colour and technology don’t always go that well together. The colours are more toned down due to being out of the gamut range. That’s life for you.

This was actually an interesting process. It was an excersice in not being so controlling of what goes on the paper as well. The girl was done in pencil and then coloured using Prisma Colour Scholer pencil crayons. (I swear by those things. They are amazing.) The background is watered down acrylic paint. I attempted to make it look watercolour, but I quite by accident put too much paint on my brush at one point and everything was given a thicker application of my water/paint mixture. The colours originally weren’t supposed to be as bright as they are it just happened that way, but the result turned out in my favour. I grew quite fond of the yellow, a colour I’m not always keen on.
